Professor Sam Olatunji Ale mni,OFR Director & Chief Executive
Born at Iyara, Headquarters of Ijumu Local Government Area of Okun Land in Kogi State. Formerly Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. Studied at Anglican Mission- owned St. Barnabas Secondary School Kabba (1962-1966) Titcombe College, Egbe (1967 - 1968). Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, (1969 - 1972) B.Sc., C.Ed University of Southampton, U.K. (1974 - 1978) Ph. D. National Institute of Policy And Strategic Studies, Kuru Jos 1994 The working carrier as follows : - Crowther Memorial College, Lokoja (1972 -1973) as teacher. Lecturer at A.B.U. Zaria (1973 - 1985) and rose to Reader/Associate Prof. at Federal University of Technology, Yola (1982) Appointed Associate Professor and Professor of Mathematics & Mathematics Education (1983) of the defunct Open University. From 1988 till June, 2002 was Professor of Mathematics and Mathematics Education at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (A.T.B.U) Bauchi/NMC . This highly gifted, polite and good-natured academician possesses an intimidating outline of academic achievements. i) Over 99 publications in learned journals both local and foreign. Mostly in Pure Mathematics and Mathematics Education. ii) Has authored 8 published text-books and co-authored 14 others with MAN. iii) Has 11 published monographs, 7 Community service Educational papers and 14 chapter contributions to different other textbooks, other than the ones co-authored. iv) Serves as external examiner in various reputable institutions in Nigeria, among which are Kaduna Polytechnic, Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, University of Ilorin, Nigerian Defence Academy (Kaduna), University of Jos, UNN Nsukka and Anambra State University of Technology, etc. v). Has tutored to graduation over 7 Ph.D's and 15 M. Sc. students and examined the Thesis Defense of over 11 Ph. D. and 150 M.Sc. graduates. vi) Selected for a course at prestigious National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru- Jos where he emerged as Chairman of Syndicate 3 (1994) and obtained the Membership of National Institute (mni). vii) Has attended over 9 international conferences in U.S.A., Italy, Ghana,I.C., Hungary, U,K. , Thailand and Zimbabwe. Prof. Ale was appointed Co-coordinator, Mathematics Science Education Programmes in April, 1999. He held this office until his appointment as the Director and Chief Executive Officer, National Mathematical Centre, Kwali, Abuja, in June 2002. Prof. Sam. Ale (mni) is married to Mrs. Joy Ale and endowed with four children. He has, in spite of the pressure of work, attended the Emmanuel College of Theology, Ibadan, where he graduated with a Diploma in Theology in 1985, having been ordained a Priest by the Anglican Church in 1984.
