NMC / NOUN JOINT DEGREE PROGRAMMES
The Centre entered into partnership with the National Open University (NOUN) to develop Mathematical sciences at the lower level of the Nigerian Educational System, because of the poor performance in Mathematics and its related Sciences, arising from shortage of qualified Mathematics Teachers in our Schools.
The Programme is to create an opportunity for secondary school Teachers of Mathematics and science to update their knowledge of mathematics and science to acquire the necessary instructional skills and competencies for effective and efficient teaching.
PARTNERSHIP WITH THE PRIVATE SECTOR
In line with the Federal Government’s deregulation policy, the Centre came up with deliberate policies aimed at wooing Private Sector participation in its activities. The Centre has, also based on strong counseling from the Presidency and in appreciation of reduced government funding of public institutions, embarked on private sector partnership initiative to implement and deliver some of its programmes.
In the light of this development, the Centre embarked upon programmes that are meaningful and attractive to potential Investors from the private sector. Under this strategy, the Centre set up Research Groups to aim at scientific breakthrough in technological development for the Nation is expected to be of interest to the private sector in several areas, especially in proffering solution to recurring industrial problems like power. The anticipated research results being undertaken in applicable mathematics also stand to answer production problems in the private sector.
PARTNERSHIP WITH MINISTRIES, PARASTATALS, NGOS
The above group of Agencies form set of major partners assisting the Centre to achieve is Objectives. The Centre established relationship with some government and private establishments, private individuals and International Organizations. Some of these organizations include the NOUN, World Bank, Japan International Co-operative Agency (JICA), United Nations Educational and Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Banks, Media Organisations, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), among others.
